Long Island Statehood Coalition

A Fair Future for Long Island

Long Island has carried New York’s economy for decades, yet our communities continue to receive far less than we give. Families are burdened with some of the highest taxes in the country, while roads, schools, and vital services struggle to keep up. Our goal is simple: ensure Long Islanders finally receive the representation, resources, and respect they deserve. This movement is about protecting our future and creating a state where people can afford to live, work, and raise their families without being forced out.

We collaborate with 100+ donation and charity organizations

Long Island gives more than it gets.

The numbers don’t lie.

We send $24.6B to the state but receive only $9.8B back. Long Island families carry the burden while others reap the benefit. Long Islanders are deprived of $14.7B which is rightfully theirs.

About Us

Standing Together for Long Island’s Future

For decades, Long Island has contributed more to New York than it receives in return. Communities are overwhelmed by rising taxes, underfunded infrastructure, and decisions made in Albany that do not reflect the realities of life in Nassau and Suffolk.
Our organization formed to change that. We bring together residents, policy experts, local advocates, and community leaders who all share one belief: Long Islanders deserve control over their own future.

Our Mission

A Stronger, Fairer Long Island

Our mission is to give Long Islanders the representation, resources, and voice they have long been denied. For generations, Nassau and Suffolk counties have carried a disproportionate share of New York’s financial burden while receiving far less in return. We believe every resident deserves a future where their tax dollars stay in their community, their concerns are heard, and their quality of life is protected.

01.

Protecting Local Communities and Families

Long Island families face growing pressures: high property taxes, aging infrastructure, and decisions made far from home. Our goal is to ensure that important policies—public safety, education, housing, and environmental protection are shaped by the people who live here, not by lawmakers with little connection to our region.

02.

Investing in Long Island’s Future

When Long Island keeps more of its own revenue, we can reinvest in the things that matter: modern schools, clean water, stronger downtowns, safer roads, reliable public services, and opportunities that keep young professionals from leaving. Statehood would allow us to build a sustainable foundation for the next generation.

03.

Creating Real Representation for All Long Islanders

Our population is larger than many existing U.S. states, yet our voice in Albany and Washington does not reflect our size or our contributions. We are committed to building a movement that ensures Long Island receives fair representation, clearer accountability, and a government that truly speaks for the people who live here.
